UPDATED: Citrix To Retire New CCA Exam Next Month

10/29/2003 -- Citrix announced today that its new Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) exam (#221) will be replaced by yet another new CCA exam next month.

The 221 was released in beta format in May and just recently went live.

"Citrix Education is announcing updates to the CCA certification exam to support Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server, Feature Release 3," the company's Web site states. "Effective November 24, 2003 Citrix Exam 222, Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server, FR3, Administration, will be available through Prometric testing centers worldwide...Candidates interested in taking the English version of exam 221 are strongly encouraged to schedule exam 221 as soon as possible."

According to Citrix's Web site, candidates have until Nov. 24 to "schedule" this exam. A company spokesperson told CertCities.com that the exam itself will be available through the end of the year as long as registration is made by the above date. The spokesperson also emphasized that no matter which version of the exam a candidate takes, the CCA title earned will remain valid.

Objectives for Exam 222, which covers functions and capabilities of Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server Feature Release 3, will not be released until the new exam goes live, Citrix said.

10/29/03: Anonymous says: The Citrix certification program sucks. First off, they cant seem to get a CCA exam that can live longer than their stupid Feature Release packs. Why cant Citrix make ONE exam that gets updated every 3 years. Next, Citrix makes it nearly impossible to download and try out their software so we can practice in a non production environment for their tests. Citrix will never gain momentum on the certifiation front because it has a bunch of chimps running the program. case in point - I was studying for the CCA 2 years ago... you tell me how many times the test has changed in the past 2 years and you will know why I never took the test. Citrix - you cant run a cert program to save your lives, that is why its not popular. Get a clue.
10/29/03: Anonymous says: Actually, it changed only once.... from the 220 to the current 221. The fact that you were not able to pass either the 220 or the 221 just shows your ability. The software is easily downloaded from ftp.citrix.com or www.citrix.com/mycitrix and so are licenses. I personally find that the Citrix certs shine in their transparancy (just CCxx with the appropiate exams), although the level could be slightly higher
10/29/03: Anonymous says: Cripes! These guys are worse than Cisco...
10/29/03: Anonymous says: Guys, don't cry, and get your act together. If this cert "sucks" DO NOT DO IT!.
11/3/03: Anonymous says: Better of doing a MCSA etc. Stay away for Citrix certs.
11/19/03: Anonymous says: Morans. Cost big $$ to put a new exam out. They are not making any $$ on it. It's costing them if anything. They are not like Microsoft and retiring your cert if you've already passed 221. The basics are still the same, just updated with changes that FR3 brings. Get over it!
12/6/03: Anonymous says: Citrix allows you to attain cert by just passing one exam that is relatively easy. Probably one of most useful non-microsft products in existence right now.
12/9/03: Anonymous says: In Exams Questions will be from all over the world, it's very very difficult to pass Citrix exams, lot of questions from different topics, for example CCA 221 has lot of un-related qestions like Samrt cards oh my God it sucked my two times fees. juat imagine still I could not clear the exam and no where the details for those questions.
