Cisco Updates CCIE Dial Written, Offers $50 Beta

6/2/2003 -- Cisco Systems announced recently that it soon will be offering a new version of the C&S Dial written exam in beta format.

The exam covers "technologies and products that service providers use to deliver services via dial-up connections," Cisco states on its Web site. It is one of eight different written exams for the CCIE C&S track, Cisco said.

The beta (#351-025) will launch June 9 though through Pearson Vue and Prometric testing centers worldwide. It will cost $50 (U.S.), a savings of $250 (US).

Those who pass the beta will receive credit toward certification, Cisco said.

The beta will last through June 30. No final live date for the updated exam was given.

6/17/03: Anonymous says: Just checked Cisco website and found these news: For CCNP Cisco has extended the last day of registration for the current CCNP exams to Sept 7, a month from the last date, August 7. And the last day to take the exam is 45 days after the registration date. Is it correct? http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/learning_certification_type_home.html And for CCIP, there no longer is a link to the CCIP with elective track where we could take BSCI, MCast/QoS with 2 CCSP exams. Now we have to take BSCI, MCast/QoS or just the QoS, MPLS, and BGP to get the CCIP. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/le3/le2/le37/le8/learning_certification_type_home.html Current CCSP will retire by Sept 30, except CSIDS by Nov 1 and there's no replacement for the exam. Does it mean CCSP only has 4 exams required thereafter? How differ is SECUR from MCNS? Can we use MCNS books and materials for SECUR? http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/le3/le2/le37/le54/learning_certification_type_home.html
6/20/03: Becky Nagel from Editor, CertCities.com says: Hi Anon -- I think you've got most of the info correct -- it is 45 days as long as you register by the 7. And on the CCSP, see my earlier article for a quick write up on the differences between those two exams. -- Becky Nagel, Editor, CertCities.com
