First MCSA/MCSE 2003 Core Exams To Beta in June

5/21/2003 -- Microsoft's certification group has announced simultaneous beta test dates for two new core exams on the MCSA/MCSE for Windows Server 2003 tracks.

Exams 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment and 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure will both be beta tested June 4 through 15. The exams will be numbered 71-290 and 71-290, respectively.

Passing both 70-290 and 70-291 exams satisfies the Core: Network Systems portion of the MCSA on Windows Server 2003 track, and two of the four required for the Core: Network Systems portion of the MCSE on Windows Server 2003.

Microsoft Beta exams are free but typically only offered to qualified subscribers of Microsoft's MCP Newsflash; to find out how to become a beta tester, go here.

5/29/03: Anonymous says: I dont understand the heated debate of Experience vs Cert or Education. Basically there are 2 choices early on: 1. You can take a job right out of highschool and maybe if you lucky enough someone will hire you and let you earn the experience you will need and rely on in the future. 2. You continue on with formal education be it college or trade school. In the end who is to say one way is better than the other? In scenario 1. you may have experience but you may learn all the wrong things from those teaching you. In Scenario 2. You may be end up book smart but not have a clue on how to make it really all come together. But to generalize and say that you wont hire someone with a Cert or you wont hire someone without a Cert is ridiculous. I know people on both sides of the fence and sometimes it boils down to what you want in the end. If you plan to move into higher management alot of companies want some type of paper(be it a BA or MBA or MCSE)on your record. I know several people who have the experience and knowledge enough to run circles around their CTO but with out that paper they cant even meet the requirements to interview for that position.

6/1/03: Matt says: Hey Becky, maybe you should remove the disgusting and juvenile 'Mo Money' posts... this is what happens when you give people like that attention; it just encourages them even more, and more and more of this weirdo's posts have been obscene and have nothing to do with the discussion topics on these message boards.
6/1/03: Anonymous says: I think mo'money has created all these ridiculous posts whether by himself or by other people who commmented his dumb posts on top of every single news posted. I think such post with "mo'money" should be removed.
