Wireless Security Cert To Launch This Month

4/16/2003 -- Planet3 Wireless, Inc., the creators of the Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) program, recently announced the official launch of the Certified Wireless Security Professional (CWSP) certification.

The CWSP exam (PW0-200) will be available at all Prometric Authorized Testing Centers worldwide for $175 on April 24. Candidates who pass this exam and also hold the organization's Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) title will earn the credential.

According to Planet3, the CWSP is the IT industry's first vendor-neutral wireless LAN security certification

4/21/03: Mike from Oshawa says: Well, other than the $175 US pricetag, not a bad concept. For companies that use widespread wireless, this could be the key to getting hired. Personally, I have a hard time with the ticket price... Planet3 thinks it's pretty bigtime to demand that kind of money!
4/22/03: Anonymous says: CompTIA exams are more expensive than $175. Security+ is $225. So are some Cisco and Microsoft. I think $175 is about industry average, if not even a little below.
10/3/03: Josh from New York says: The CWSP program appears attractive, however the current pricetag is high for a new cert. in an evolving field. If Planet3 wants to elevate and spread their products into the mainstream, they would do well to offer (for the short term) less expensive exams. Charging $50 for a study guide, $75 for a book, and another $175 for the exam is just a bit much.
