More Details on New Solaris Security Cert Released

3/5/2003 -- Sun Microsystems recently posted more information about its upcoming Sun Certified Security Administrator for Solaris Operating Environment certification.

The title, officially announced in February, will consist of one exam (CX-310-301) featuring multiple choice, free response and drag and drop questions. The number of questions and passing score have yet to be determined.

There are no official prerequisites for the title, although Sun recommends that candidates have six to 12 months of relevant job experience and hold another of the company's Solaris certifications.

The announcement includes a detailed list of objectives, as well as recommended training classes.

3/5/03: Anonymous says: It is about time that Sun got on the certification gravytrain with a security-oriented test. They should have had something like this 1 or 2 years ago.
3/5/03: dude-icans from NY says: Yeah, standby, youll have a freakin Adobe Security Specialist yet to learn how to keep their PDF's secure. :)~
3/6/03: Anonymous says: mo' money on that security wave-of-the-minute
3/11/03: Bryan J. Smith from Orlando, FL says: Took the beta, but won't find out results until end-of-April. 160 questions (probably the full set that will be whittled down for the final). I spent the whole ~3:30 on the exam so I could comment fully. Half of the test is common-sense UNIX security, the other half is Sun-specific kernel and user-space utility usage.
