HTI+ Now Live
11/13/2002 -- On Monday, CompTIA announced the live versions of its new HTI+ (home technology integrator) exams.
The HTI+ credential is designed for technicians who install and network digitally-based security, audio and video, computer, heating and air conditioning, cable and satellite, and telecommunications systems.
To earn an HTI+ certification, professionals must pass two computer-based exams: HTI+ Residential Systems and HTI+ Systems Infrastructure and Integration. Both are now available at Vue and Prometric testing centers worldwide.
According to CompTIA, HTI+ was developed jointly by CompTIA and Internet Home Alliance (IHA) "in response to the growing need for qualified technicians to install and maintain networked home entertainment, environment and security systems."
During the next few years, as were connecting products beyond the home computer products like intrusion alarms, furnaces and air conditioners and the next generation of smart appliances families will want to be assured that technicians are qualified, explained John Venator, president and CEO CompTIA. The goal of the HTI+ certification program is to establish a recognized standard for the men and women who install and service home-networked products.
Several IHA members, including Best Buy, Cisco Systems, CompUSA, Fluke Networks, Gateway Computer, HomeDirector, Honeywell International, Panasonic, Sears Roebuck & Co. and Whirlpool Corporation, helped supervise the development of the certification, CompTIA said.
