Sniffer Upgrades Exams to 4.7

8/7/2002 -- Sniffer Technologies announced recently that it has upgraded all of its exams to version 4.7.

A complete list of the 4.7 exams, which launched in July, can be found here. The company also introduced a new exam, Sniffer Portable Switch Expert Analysis and Troubleshooting (1T6-215).

The previous version 4.0 exams will remain available until October. Anyone certified in 4.0 will retain their certification -- recertification is not required, Sniffer said.

More information on the Sniffer Certified Professional program can be found here. -B.N.

7/19/07: Darby Weaver from Orlando Florida says: Well, I've heard of it. I've been to Sniffer University and while I worked and played with Sniffer Pro, Ethereal, TCPDump, and EtherPeek prior to 2002 when I got a chance to attend not one but two Sniffer University courses. I was hooked. The "Expert" is amazing and is worth the price differential and I use other people on-site as remote probes by asking them to download a freebie Sniffer and send it to me to examine. I convert it to Sniffe Pro and walk away a hero. Problem solved. I took two of the Sniffer exams this week so far for with the goal of becomeing a Sniffer Certfied Master by the end of next week. My base knowledge was about 68.5% on all of my practice exams for Sniffer and the questions from my courseware. Not bad. I needed a 75 to pass. I landed an 80 and a 97 on the first two exams. TCPIP Troubleshooting is tough - gotta tell you and I'm pretty good at the bit level with most common IP Services. So be mindful and beware. The Windows Analysis and Troubleshooting exam is my forte - I'm an MCSE plus I and Security and Messaging so this was a cakewalk for me. I've used Sniffer to solve all manner of problems over the years and my tenacity and work paid off when it came time to certify myself. I expect to pass the next few exams and become the 66th Sniffer Certified Master in the world and the 44th in the United States. So... this is my "Hello World"... I also own my own Sniffer Fleet of Sniffer Workstations, Pods, Matrices, and even Infinistream and as such am quite well qualified to handle most any network and do so quite proficiently. I have worked on networks with over 50,000 users successfully using my Sniffers and I can probably help anyone else - Google me if you need me. I can usually not only perform a structured and thorough analysis, I can also recommend or make the appropriate changes and show you the differences. I guarantee it.
6/13/08: Darby Weaver from Orlando, Florida says: I got my Sniffer Certified Master certification and I'm proud of it. Whew! It literally took me from 2002 to 2007 to get this stuff straight and to take the exams. But I've been thankful that some of my networks have interesting problems and more thankful that some of my superiors thought those problems were worth my spending my time with a Sniffer trying to resolve them. That's what this stuff is about... Now if I can just get the Infinistream Certification by "NetScout". That's the ticket... Later
