Cisco Adds Multiservice Switching Specialty

7/24/2002 -- Cisco keeps adding to its list of specialty certificates, this month with a Multiservice Switching title.

Launched yesterday, the title is designed to certify the "technical expertise necessary to install, configure, support, troubleshoot, and design complex ATM-based networks in the service provider market segment," Cisco said.

To become a Cisco Certified Multiservice Switching Specialist, candidates must hold Cisco's CCNA title and then pass two exams: ATM Multiservice Switching and PNNI and MPLS Networking Exam. Both exams are available at Prometric and Vue testing centers worldwide.

7/30/02: Anonymous says: How many certs do they have now? How do they expect employers to recognize the difference between the growing number of Cisco titles?
8/3/02: anonymous says: It is unbeleivable. I don't think people are gonna keep on beleiving this. Tell them to first show us where the jobs are. CISCO itself does not even hire engineers. People get hands on there is no paper from CISCO that will help you out in what you really do. Yoy do no have to show it in a test with silly questions that have nothing to do with real life challenges. If you can do it at your job you don't have to go and prove it anywhere else.
