Riverstone Launches Hands-On Cert
5/1/2002 -- Santa Clara, Calif.-based Riverstone Networks announced a new certification program for its metropolitan area networking products today.
The program offers two titles: Riverstone Certified Network Professional (RCNP) and Riverstone Certified Internetwork Expert (RCIE). To achieve the RCNP, candidates must pass a 75-question written exam covering the architecture, basic configuration, and troubleshooting of Riverstone metro routers and line cards. For the RCIE, candidates must first obtain the RCNP, take another written exam (choose between Advanced IP Routing, Metro Services, Metro Design & Troubleshooting), then pass a one-day hands-on lab exam.
The RCNP exam costs $150. The RCIE written is $200, and the lab exam is $1,250. According to Riverstone, the written exams are available through Prometric testing centers worldwide. Training classes are optional.
