Novell CNA 6 Rolls into Early Beta

5/1/2002 -- Novell announced yesterday that it is offering a free "alpha" version of its upcoming 050-677 Foundations of Novell Networking exam, which will eventually be Novell's sole requirement for its upcoming CNA NetWare 6 certification.

Alpha #052-677 will be available through Friday May 3. Candidates interested in taking it can register via Prometric or Vue via phone (registration is limited to the first 300 candidates). Note that because this is an early beta (a.k.a. "alpha"), candidates who pass it will not receive credit toward their CNA 6 certification (Novell reserves this credit for the second beta round).

The final version of this exam, originally scheduled to be released by March of this year, is now expected to debut sometime in Q3 2002.

Novell originally announced the requirements for its NetWare 6 certifications back in June 2001. However, according to a recent Novell brochure, the titles themselves will not go live until Q3 and Q4 2002.

5/10/02: Matthew LAtta, A+,N+,CNA from Charleston, SC says: I have never met a Micro$oft Fan in my life until now... I bet 'micrsoftfan' hasn't touched a NetWare 6 system, I have, it has its advantages over M$ - SECURITY , SCALABILITY , EASE OF ADMIN. -NetWare 6 -- for servers that only go down when you want them to.
5/27/02: CNA 3, 4, 5 from Indiana says: LATTA & death are right. MS fan sounds like he subscribes to the propaganda and would have become persuaded by Hitler, too. Micro$oft is all about marketing and NOTHING about substance. Try them BOTH, and you'll see...
7/1/02: Matthew Latta, A+, N+, CNA from Charleston, SC says: Update on this exam. I have taken both the Alpha and Beta exams for NetWare 6 Networking Essentials (that is the new name for the CNA test) These tests are more difficult. Questions ranging from Basic Admin, Advanced Admin, Groupwise Admin, and Security - (topics such as virii) well I don't exactly know where Novell is going with this one. Seems like subject matter is too broad. Maybe to compete with M$'s MCSA Certification....? I Hope I passes it... TTYL ;) Matt
9/18/02: Syed Zuhaib Ali from Lahore(Pakistan) says: Hai i only want that novell register me as a student ..i mean novell have a record of mine in CNA as student in CNS certificate.OK

4/4/03: Joey Zac from USA says: Microsoftfan is a tad delusional BUT he is right about one thing. Novell's days are numbered. They blew the marketing and licensing campaigns long ago. They may make a better product than M$, but too few know about it.
