New i-Net+ Coming April 12; Security+ Needs SMEs
3/13/2002 -- According to CompTIA's Web site, a new version of the company's i-Net+ certification exam will be released on April 12.
The 2002 version of the entry-level Internet-related exam is based on recently revised objectives, available here. CompTIA said that the main revisions include increased emphasis on security and new technogies like wireless networking. Overall, the company says it's changed 50 percent of the exam's objectives.
Although the new version debuts April 12, the previous version of the i-Net+ exam will not retire until May 31, giving candidates some time in which to choose between the two versions.

In other CompTIA news, today the organization confirmed that the name of new security-related certification will be Security+.
The confirmation came in a call CompTIA put out for subject matter experts (SMEs) to help them develop questions for this new title, which is expected to debut sometime this fall.
