2/12/2002 -- Symantec announced via e-mail this week that it is offering a free beta version of its upcoming Symantec Web Security 2.5 certification exam.

The beta will be held at Prometric testing centers worldwide from Feb. 27 through March 19. It will consist of around 200 questions, and will last more than three hours.

Those who pass the beta will be awarded the company's Symantec Product Specialist title, the company said. Only questions that end up appearing on the final exam will count toward the beta candidate's score.

No date was given for when the final version of this exam will go live. The price for this exam when live is expected to be $125 to $200 U.S.

To participate in this beta, candidates must register by phone with Prometric after Feb. 24. The number of the beta exam is 251-012.
