Prosoft Announces New CIW Security Cert
12/19/2001 -- Yesterday, ProsoftTraining.com officially announced a new title for its Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) program: CIW Security Analyst.
According to Prosoft, the title is aimed at "individuals who have already attained a level of proficiency in networking administration and now want to validate and prove their competencies in network security."
To achieve the title, candidates must first provide proof that they hold one of the following certifications:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
- Certified Novell Engineer (CNE)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Level 2
- SAIR Level 2 LCE
Those holding at least one of these titles may then take the CIW Security Professionals Exam (1DO-470), available at Prometric and Vue testing centers. The multiple-choice exam tests candidates' skills in implementing security policy, identifying security threats, and developing countermeasures using firewall systems and attack-recognition technologies, the company said.
Prosoft offers several tiers of CIW certifications, including Associate, Professional and Master level. Unlike other CIW certifications, this one isn't tiered and candidates do not need to pass the CIW Foundations exam to achieve this title.
In other CIW news, Prosoft announced yesterday that the program has awarded 35,000 certifications. A breakdown by title was not provided.
