Sun Announces New iPlanet Cert

11/7/2001 -- Sun Microsystems recently announced a new certification program: The Sun Certified Developer for iPlanet Application Server 6.0.

According to Sun, the title is "for architects and developers who are using J2EE technology to develop, deploy and run applications on iPlanet Server 6.0, Enterprise Edition."

Candidates must hold a Sun Certified Java Programmer title in order to sit for iPlanet's 76 question multiple-choice exam. The exam costs $150 (U.S.), and requires a 76 percent pass rate. Objectives can be found here.

The new title brings Sun's total certification offerings to seven; the company already offered four Java, two Solaris and one storage-related designation.
