Macromedia Announces New Flash, Dreamweaver Certs
9/12/2001 -- Macromedia recently announced on its Web site that it will launch three new certifications over the next few months.
The first, Certified Macromedia Flash Developer, will go live on Oct. 16. According to Macromedia, this certification is designed to demonstrate a candidate's ability to identify requirements, design, code, implement, integrate, test, deploy and troubleshoot applications using Macromedia Flash.
On Nov. 19, the company's Certified Macromedia Dreamweaver Developer cert will launch. This title's 70-question multiple-choice exam will test candidates' knowledge of Dreamweaver, Web page design, Web page authoring and "supporting technologies."
In early 2002, the company will release a Certified Macromedia Flash Designer title that will focus on Flash animation techniques.
Macromedia has not yet released details for the Flash exams, although the company's Web site implies that each title will consist of only one exam.
These new designations bring Macromedia's certification count up to five. The company currently administers two other titles -- Certified Cold Fusion Developer and Certified Web Site Designer -- both former Allaire certs that Macromedia took over after the two companies merged.
Macromedia certification exams are available through VUE testing centers. Each costs around $130 (U.S.).
