MOUS Project 2000 Expert Exam Cancelled

8/15/2001 -- Nivo International, the organization that runs the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification program for Microsoft, confirmed to CertCities.com yesterday that it has cancelled plans for a Project 2000 Expert Exam.

Bruce Reemsnyder, Nivo's senior director of strategic accounts, told CertCities: "There were both technical and business reasons for not proceeding."

For months, the MOUS section of the Microsoft Web site has stated that the Project 2000 Expert exam is "in development." As of this writing, the site does not state that the exam has been cancelled.

R. Neal Elliot, a MOUS Master from Newfoundland, Canada who is also certified in Project 2000 Core, found out that the exam was cancelled on Monday. He called the decision a dissapointment:"It would have been a wonderful opportunity to force myself to learn more about [Project 2000]," he explained.

The Project 2000 Core Exam was not effected by this decision.

8/17/01: Clare says: This does seem a pity when there is so much more to Project 2000 than what was tested in the Core Exam. It would be interesting to know what the "technical" and "business" reasons are for taking this decsion.
8/17/01: Neal says: Clare: I think the technical reason was the challenges that the web component of Project (Project Central) posed for the exam. Nivo had difficulties with the inter/intranet components of Outlook 2000 and therefore, you can imagine the nightmare that Project Central could have posed for test engineers.
8/20/01: Rob says: MS is trying to get XP exepted and that is why they dont translate the 2000 exams in different languages or develop Project expert exams. this is the only reason.
8/20/01: Tania says: This is a big disappointment for those who want a proof of consultancy level knowledge of this product. Where does it leave someone who wanted to be a MOUS accredited trainer in MSProject???
