7/25/2001 -- Macromedia launched its ColdFusion 5.0 exam on July 9, 2001, thus replacing the 4.5 exam.

According to the Allaire Web site, all developers currently holding 4.5 certifications will be automatically grandfathered into the ColdFusion 5.0 certification and should receive their new certificate within six weeks. (Note: Allaire merged with Macromedia earlier this year. As a result, all Allaire certifications are now referred to as Macromedia certifications, even though the company's Web sites remain separate.)

The 4.5 exam was retired on July 14, 2001.
