JavaOne Testing Attracts 300+ Participants
6/18/2001 -- An estimated 330 IT professionals participated in on-site, discounted testing at Sun's JavaOne conference, held earlier this month in San Francisco, Calif.
According to Sun Educational Services, 97 percent of the certification exams taken at JavaOne were Sun-related. IBM, Oracle and others also offered conference attendees certification exams at a discount of up to 50 percent off regular exam prices. Prometric proctored the exams.
This is the first time on-site testing has been offered at Sun's annual JavaOne conference. An accompanying Java University program offered attendees pre-test training courses.
Sun said that the most popular exam at the conference was the free beta of its new Java Web Component Developer certification, followed by its Programmer exam. At the Java University preparatory sessions, however, the most popular exam preparation session appeared to be the one for the Sun Certified Java Architect exam, which was given to a packed room of around 300 participants.
