Check Point Launches 'Master Architect' Security Cert With Lab Exam
6/6/2007 -- Late last month, Check Point added a top-level title to its line of security certifications: the Check Point Certified Master Architect (CCMA).
The certification is designed to "[indentify] experts capable of designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting complex end-to-end Check Point security architectures," according to Check Point.
Like Cisco's top-level Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert exam, the CCMA will require candidates to pass a "written" exam as well as a hands-on lab exam. Detailed objectives can be found here. The written exam (156-100) will be available at Pearson Vue testing centers worldwide for $300.
The eight-hour lab exams will cost $1,200 (not including transportation). According to the Check Point Web site, it appears the main testing location is located in Irvine, Texas.
Before taking the written exam, candidates will also be required to hold several other Check Point certifications: CCSA, CCSE and the CCSE+.
Currently, the exams are only available in English; foriegn-language speakers can request extra time.
"The CCMA certification demonstrates our continued commitment to top quality training and certification programs that help optimize Check Point environments for our customers and to develop the potential of IT professionals," Amnon Bar-Lev, vice president of field operations for Check Point Software Technologies, commented in a released statement.
Check Point provides a number of IT security products, including firewalls and intrusion detection solutions.
