Cisco Betas New CCIE Security Written Exam

1/10/2007 -- Cisco is releasing another beta for its line of Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) "written" exams -- the standard-format prequalification exams that qualify candidates for related CCIE hands-on labs.

Last month, the company held a beta test for its new CCIE Routing & Switching exam, and now the company is holding a beta for its written CCIE Security exam.

The discounted beta, available for $50 at Prometric and Pearson Vue testing centers worldwide, is running now through Jan. 23. Objectives for the new exam can be found here.

Cisco had originally said this new version would debut in live format this month. The company did not explain why it decided to switch to a beta, but pushed back the retirement of the previous version of this exam until March 31.

I had take the CCIE Security written many times over the past years as my recertification requirement for my Cisco CCIE certification and had always been disappointed in the question pool for the old exam. A lot of legacy equipment and protcols use to be on the older exam. Not the case anymore folks! A new and very challenging exam to say the least. I have been in the Cisco industry for over 10 years and in networking for 24 years and this new beta exam is the most challenging exam I have ever taken from Cisco, Novel, Microsoft or any other vendors. The best thing I can say is to know ALL the subjects on the new blueprint 2.0 for the CCIE Security written exam in order to prepare for the written exam. A little pray helps too. Now I just have to wait the required 6 to 8 weeks to get my beta score report from Cisco in the snail mail.
