Zend Releases PHP 5 Cert

9/27/2006 -- Zend Technologies announced earlier this month that it has released a new PHP 5 track for its Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE) credential.

To earn the title, candidates must pass one PHP 5-focused exam, available at Pearson Vue testing centers worldwide for $125 (U.S.). A general outline of the exam's objectives is available here.

Zend launched the PHP-focused title in 2004. Until this update, the certification focused on PHP 4.

The PHP 4-focused exam will remain available at least through the end of the year, although "it will eventually completely replace the current exam," says a FAQ on the company's site.

If they choose, those who have purchased a voucher for the PHP 4 exam may apply it toward the PHP 5 exam instead, according to the FAQ.
