Prosoft Backs Down on New CIW Pass Rate
4/26/2001 -- The pass rate for the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) Foundations exam is back to 75 percent, at least for now.
Just days after announcing it would be raising the overall pass rate to 80 percent, Prosoft reversed its decision, citing student feedback.
In an e-mail sent to several students, including a CertCities.com reader, Prosoft explained the reversal this way: "Due to the amount of feedback we received from students, we have decided to lower the bar to a passing grade of 75% with no section scoring."
As mentioned above, Prosoft has not changed its mind about dropping the exam's former section scoring.
According to the e-mail, the latest pass rate is effective immediately -- candidates can now take this version of the exam at VUE and Prometric centers worldwide.
