Sun Announces SCJD Update Plans
10/20/2004 -- Sun Microsystems recently announced on its Web site that it is planning to update its Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD) exam to Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0.
The update is still in the early stages—the company is currently working on building a "blueprint" for the exam. As part of the process, the company is asking expert Java developers working with J2SE 5.0 to assist in creating objectives, determining the number of questions per topic and so on.
Those who participate in this process will receive a voucher to take a beta of the new exam for free. This beta is expected to launch in January 2005 at Prometric testing centers worldwide.
An official live date for the new exam has yet to be announced.
