8/6/2003 -- UPDATE 8/7/03: Macromedia told CertCities.com today that the posting of the Director MX, Authorware or JRun betas was in error, and that there are no certifications being planned for these programs. Full story here.

If several recently announced betas are any indication, Macromedia is looking to significantly expand its certification program.

Of the seven betas announced, most are for current Macromedia certifications: Flash MX Developer, Flash MX Designer, Dreamweaver MX and Cold Fusion MX.

However, three are for programs that Macromedia does not currently offer certifications for: Director MX, Authorware and JRun.

Macromedia doesn't offer details about the certifications; only the ability to apply. Those interested in participating in any of the seven betas can apply here (Macromedia's betas are managed by the Donath Group). The betas will take place online, and participates will be given discount vouchers toward proctored Macromedia exams, the company said.
