4/30/2003 -- The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2, the proprietor of Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, announced recently that two new CISSP concentrations will soon be available: Architecture and Management.

"The new concentrations in management and architecture were developed in direct response to constituent demand amid the growing size and complexity of the information security field worldwide," James E. Duffy, CISSP, executive director of Framingham, Mass.-based (ISC)2, commented in a released statement. "They are designed to complement the CISSP for those desiring additional validation of these skills for career paths in management or technology."

The CISSP is a prerequisite for both concentrations.

According to (ISC)2, the CISSP Management option focuses on the following area of the organization's common body of knowledge (CBK):

• Enterprise Security Management Practices
• Enterprise-Wide Systems Development Security
• Operations Security Compliance
• Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery Planning and Continuity of Operations Planning
• Law, Investigation, Forensics and Ethics

Architecture focusing on the following:

• Access Control, Telecommunications and Methodology
• Telecommunications and Network Security
• Cryptography
• Requirements Analysis and Security Standards/Guidelines Criteria
• Technology-Related Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning
• Physical Security Integration
  

(ISC)2 said it plans to release the exam for both concentrations in July.
