Oracle Officially Launches New Web, Developer Titles

11/13/2002 -- Earlier today Oracle officially announced two new certifications: Oracle 9i AS Web Administrator Certified Associate and Oracle 9i Internet Developer Certified Associate.

The announcement was not unexpected: The exam for the Web Administrator title -- designed for administrators of Oracle's 9i Application Server product -- has been available in beta format since October.

The other certification, Oracle 9i Internet Developer Certified Associate, "recognizes proven knowledge focused on SQL and PL/SQL used for application development and programming job roles," Oracle said. It appears to be the first certification in a new track designed to replace Oracle's former line of Java certifications, which the company decided to discontinued earlier this year. Specific details about this certification and related exam have yet to be published on Oracle's Web site.

Professional-level titles for both tracks are expected to debut at a later date.
