6/19/2002 -- Sun Microsystems recently announced that in August 2002 it will introduce a new certification, Sun Certified Engineer for Sun ONE Directory Server 5.x.

The certification comes soon after the company said it would brand several of its programs, including iPlanet and Forte, under a new Sun ONE umbrella.

Sun offers no details about the new certification on its Web site, although it does appear that it may replace the company's current iPlanet title, as suggested by this page. The iPlanet certification debuted in November 2001.

Visitors to the above page can register to win a free voucher for an upcoming beta of the Directory Server 5.x exam. Interested candidates can also go here to sign up for notification from Sun when the title is released.
