6/12/2002 -- The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is offering a beta version of its upcoming Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) exam through June 17.

The beta features 94 test questions and costs $35 -- a 72 percent discount off the price when the exam goes live later this summer. Those who pass will become CTP certified.

CTP is a joint offering of the TIA and ProsoftTraining.com. According to Prosoft, the CTP tests competency in basic data networking, telephony and convergence technologies. Specific topics covered include:

• Industry Standards and Protocols
• Voice-Over IP
• Infrastructure
• Topology Convergence
• IP Protocols
• Troubleshooting
• Telephony Concepts and Fundamentals
