Sun Officially Announces New Storage Certs

9/26/2001 -- Sun Microsystems recently updated its Web site with information about its new line of storage certifications. The posting is the first time detailed information about all three new titles has been available on Sun's Web site.

As CertCities.com reported in August, Sun has been working on developing this new line of storage certifications for quite some time. The three certifications are:

  • Sun Certified Data Management Engineer
  • Sun Certified Backup and Recovery Engineer
  • Sun Certified Storage Architect

According to Sun, the certifications were created in association with storage software manufacturer Veritas. For both the Data Management and the Backup and Recovery titles, candidates can choose between exams emphasizing either Sun technology or Veritas products.

Each title requires passing one exam. Only the exams for the Data Management certification are currently available. The rest are expected to be released shortly. All are priced at $150 (US).
