New Solaris Security Exam Now Live

10/11/2006 -- Last month, Sun Microsystems launched the live version of its new Sun Certified Security Administrator (SCSECA) for Solaris 10 exam.

According to Sun, the exam (CX-310-303) features multiple-choice, scenario-based and drag-and-drop questions, and covers a number of Solaris 10 security topics, including hardening, cryptographic features, Kerberos, user account management, zone security and more. Detailed objectives are available here.

The new exam is now available at Prometric testing centers worldwide for $200 U.S. Those who pass it do earn the SCSECA for Solaris 10 title.

Until this exam was released, Sun's Solaris Security certification was only available in version 9. The 9 track remains available.

The beta for the new 10 exam ran in July.

Sun offers two other Solaris certifications: the Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA) and Sun Certified Network Administrator (SCNA). For more information on these certifications, go here. -Becky Nagel
