Outlook 2003: Changing Default Location for Saved Files
How can I change the default location of the folder where Outlook 2003 saves attachments and e-mail messages?
by Zubair Alexander
3/12/2008 -- The default location for saving attachments and e-mail messages in Outlook 2003 is the My Documents folder of the individual who's doing the saving. To modify the default location, you can edit the registry. Here are the steps:
1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options.
3. On the Edit menu, click New and then select String Value.
4. Type DefaultPath and press Enter.
5. Double-click the DefaultPath entry you just created. In the Value data box, type the full path to the folder where you want your attachments and e-mail messages to be saved by default. Click OK.
6. Close the registry editor.
The next time you save an attachment or an e-mail message, it will default to the new location.
