Answers

1) Answer: a, b, c, f. To set up a Help Desk Policy in a new or existing User Policy Package, complete these steps:

  • Step 1: Create a User Policy Package—Create a User Policy Package object that matches your workstation platform.
  • Step 2: Help Desk Policy Information—Enter the Help Requester contact details in the Information page button. This information identifies the primary support CNA or mailbox that users should reference when reporting workstation problems.
  • Step 3: Help Desk Policy Configuration—These configurations include a delivery mode for messaging service, a default Subject line for Help requests, and details for launching the Help Requester automatically.
  • Step 4: Help Desk Policy Association—Once you’ve created and configured the Help Desk Policy in a new User Policy Package, it’s time to associate the Package with target containers, users, or groups.

2) Answer: b. The WINSETUP.EXE command automatically activates the correct workstation setup file from a platform-specific directory.

3) Answer: d. NetWare Administrator allows you to create and mange NDS objects quickly and easily. After enabling NetWare Administrator from your Windows workstation, the main browsing screen appears. First, select a container in which to create your User objects. Once you have selected a container, you can choose the Create option from the Object menu (or use the shortcut menu by pressing the right mouse button).

4) Answer: a. The Printer Agent is the heart of NetWare 5 NDPS printing. Before a printer can be incorporated into NDPS, it must be represented by a Printer Agent. For simplicity’s sake, the Printer Agent has a one-to-one relationship with the printer. This means no Printer Agent can represent more than one printer, and no printer can be represented by more than one Printer Agent.

5) Answer: a, b. In order to create and write to a file you must have the Create right. In order to copy files to a directory you must have the Write, Create, and File Scan rights. In order to salvage deleted files you must have Read and File Scan for the file and Create for the directory. In order to change directory or file attributes you must have the Modify right.

6) Answer: a, b, e, f. Login scripts are one of your most important configuration responsibilities. From one central location, they enable you to customize all users or just specific groups of users. Many of the configurations we’ve talked about are session-specific and disappear when users log out. Login scripts give you the ability to re-establish these settings every time your users log in. NetWare 5 supports four types of login scripts, which are executed in systematic progression. There is flowchart logic to how login scripts are executed. The four scripts are Container, Profile, User and Default login scripts.

7) Answer: b, d. The NetWare 5 MAP CHANGE (C) command can be used to change a regular NetWare 5 drive to a search drive, or vice versa. For example, MAP C I: would add drive I: to the end of the NetWare 5 search list. Conversely, if you use the MAP CHANGE command with a search drive, the search drive number is deleted from the search list, but the network drive letter originally associated with it is retained as a network drive mapping.

8) Answer: a, c. The IRF can be used to block inheritance of either object rights or property rights assigned through the All Properties option. Remember, Selected Properties aren’t inherited unless, of course, the Inheritable (I) right is explicitly granted

9) Answer: c. SnAppShot starts the NAL distribution process by taking "before" and "after" pictures of your workstation environment. In the middle, you install the NAL application you want to distribute. At the end of this fancy process, you’ll be left with an AOT file, which identifies the changes between the two snAppShot pictures.

10) Answer: Context. Context defines the position of an object within the Directory tree structure. When you request a particular network resource, you must identify the object's context so that NDS can find it. NetWare 5 uses very specific naming guidelines for creating an object's context.
