Nivo Changes Name to Certiport, Announces New Cert

11/28/2001 -- Salt Lake City-based Nivo International, the organization that manages the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification program for Microsoft, has changed its name to CertiPort (www.certiport.com) and launched a new general computing certification.

The new name reflects the company's "evolution to a multifaceted company offering products and services including program development, exam development, marketing and channel delivery," according to a printed statement released by the company.

With the name change comes a new program, which CertiPort has named Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3). The title comprises three exams that measure basic Internet and computing skills. Each exam lasts around 45 minutes and costs approximately $33 (U.S.). The exams will be delivered through iQcenters, like the MOUS exams. More information on IC3 can be found here.

12/5/01 - Eileen  Dittmar says: I hope that Certiport considers accepting other vendor's certifications such as Novell or CIW.
12/10/01 - Anonymous says: .. another one.
1/17/02 - Greg Lankowitz  from Houston says: What does IC3 give that the already successful and internationally recognized ICDL certification doesn't? Compared the 2, ICDL seems better.
5/3/02 - Jose  from Florida says: Does anyone know know of a text that covers the IC3 exam areas? I would love to take the exams but can't seem to find a textbook that mirrors the exam objectives other than general computer concepts books. I would greatly appreciate anyone's input.
