We have been waiting 3 months for the major announcement of the new MOUS Master Instructor. I have been in contact with representatives from the MOUS program since June and every time it is always a few weeks, so I do not expect the latest as soon as next week will be any more true than the few weeks answer for the past 2 months. |

More fees! I am an MCT and am looking at $400 US per year to belong to this club and now looking at more fees to be an Office Instructor ... does Microsoft not generate sufficient funds from the cost of their software and exams. I have just spent $700 CDN for Office XP! Each exam I sit is $100 or more! I really don't think I'm making enough to warrant all these new fees! |

Anonymous #1 -- I see where you're coming from. It's an official statement, so I'm reporting it, but obviously we can't say if it will actually happen. Guess we'll all find out next week. |

I agree that we are being 'nickled-and-dimed' to death. There should be an upgrade path between releases rather than a total re-cert with a fee for each exam. There should be a single upgrade exam that contains only questions from each module that are within the 'required activities' but different than the previous release. |

Does Microsoft live in the real world? Those of us marketing ourselves with our certs will just hang in limbo. One day your an instructor and one day your not. Did I wake up July 1 and not know how to teach? Microsoft...get it together. If you are not ready to give us a replacement, do not announce a retirement. |

Becky I hope they do release it soon, it is just frustrating for all of us to be lead on then nothing occurs from Nivo/Microsoft. I think this site is great, because we get to here of the latest news wfrom exams to books, etc. All of you are doing a great job. |

MCTs get a 45% discount for each and every exam they take. So each exam is only $55. Test centers don't all charge the same test fee for MOUS exams and can be from $65 to $75. $100 is too high so you may want to shop around. Because of the problems with the DOJ, Microsoft isn't giving away many things for free anymore. |

Steel workers, nurses, electricians, etc. all have unions and they pay dues to obtain the benefits. Clubs and organizations also require dues. Microsoft is no different. In fact, other vendors have similar things as well. |

Joseph up to this point Microsoft has not issued many benifits with the MOUS program, we had a logo and a polo style shirt. Now I have learned from e-mails that I received from Nivo is that we will have a wallet card and a t-shirt (that will cost extra). It seems from that Nivo/Microsoft is again making higher requirments with even less benefits. It was always here is the certification, now you go out and explain why it is important. You mentioned that Steel workers, etc have unions, but they actually have real benefits. The message Microsoft is sending is that they are only concerned with their MCSE, MCSD iprograms nstead of MOUS. |

The new certification should be MCMG "Microsoft Certified Money Grab". Why is it that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing? Where is there any incentive to get new certifications in Office 2000 or Office XP only to expect the rules will change half-way through the ball game. The biggest PROBLEM with the MOUS program is lack of promotion to business and industry by both Mocrosoft & Nivo. The only thing the real world knows about MOUS is that it is a small rodent attracted to cheese in a trap. If MOUS received even 10% of the promotion that the MCSE or MCSD programs get, we MOUS AI's wouldn't always have an uphill battle trying to educate "Joe Q Public" about MOUS and its benefits. Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT a freight train. This will be seen! Thoughts from a logo-less, shirt-less, unauthorized MOUS instructor. |

Donald 100% on the mark. Nivo/Microsoft need to promote this program and give us real benefits |
7/30/01 - Joseph Villapaz says: |
I think most people are focusing on something in return from Microsoft with regard to more benefits. Since we aren't really Microsoft employees, we have no right to demand employee-type benefits. The most important benefit of having any certification is the certification itself as proof of our competence. Hey, I spent thousands of dollars for college and the only thing I really got from them is that degree but that degree always give employers incentive to call me for an interview. And that's what counts. |

what the hell is microsoft thinking. where would M$ be without the legion of instructors en trainers ? i tell you every official CTEC must have two MCT on every site. so without trainers or instructors there would be no ctect. the competitors would finaly have a change and move in. i am moving on to sun solaris and cisco, atleast the COMMUNICATE to there certified professionals and instructors. |
8/1/01 - Rob Uscroft says: |
I note that the new program now gives a wallet card and a lapel badge for $95 but the newsletter they are promoting to us is for all MOUS masters not specifically for Master instructors they are still playing the game of giving awway freebies and not communicating |
8/1/01 - Costs Again! says: |
The cost has been announced as $95 US, that's roughly $150.00 CDN and tests in the US are $50 to $60 US, equals $100 CDN. I can only expect to make approximately $200.CDN per day delivering Office material. So in essence I work a day for free ... just to say I'm a MOUS. I think I'll stick with my CTT (certified technical trainer) thank you. Don't get me wrong I LOVE OFFICE but at what cost? |

anyone get the application link to actually work? |
6/1/02 - MASTER OF ALL from FROM YOUR MAMA says: |
MOUS IS SUCH A JOKE, IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET A CERT, MIGHT ASWELL GET A REAL ONE. EGADS YOU STUPID PEOPLE. |
9/4/02 - Mike i.e. Tron from California says: |
I am accredited in my organization as being one of the most knowledgeable users of Microsoft applications. I could demonstrate my skills on the spot if anyone chooses to challenge them. It is from reading these comments at CertCities and personal observance that I could identify a money hungry mongrel at work. I have printed and framed a much more impressionable certificate on my wall that says I certify myself as being an expert in these fields. $1.99 frame. |
