I had submitted my application package last month--right before the program ended. I got an email from them today--I meet the qualifications for the new program, and they will let me know how much it will cost soon! Wonder what the price will be--must be more than the old $50 or they wouldn't be making such a deal. What do you think? |

I just received my AI certificate last month. I think they should apply the entire $50 to the MOUS Master certificate. It just so happened that I completed all four test except Outlook. The main reason why I did not take the test because we do not teach that application on a high school level. Now, I have no choice. Also, what is the reason for not allowing us to use the MOUS logo on business cards etc. |

Fred-You may have missed some interim requirements that were posted-The Train the Trainer was not being offered-but they were requiring a Degree in Education or teaching certificate. Congratulations to Microsoft for listening to many of us who have made investments in preparing for the MOUS AI that were not being allowed anymore. |

The requirments are very similar to the previous program. It would be nice to receive an e-mail from Nivo/Microsoft on receiving an application to apply for the new program and all of the details. This entire change of the program could have been handled better, instead we will be left without an official logo to use and I expect when July 1 we will still be waiting for additional details. The ones who have worked hard to pass the exams and help market the MOUS program will be left holding the bag again. |

Can we still use DCC publishing to get books for classes we may want to teach? Also, do we have to take the exams again or are we going to get the Master Certificate for the previous exams we passed. |

I agree Lynn, we should have a log we can display on business cards, resumes, outlines, etc. MCP's have a logo they can use. On the mous site, it said possibly a certificate, wallet card. The message that is being sent is that being a MOUS Master Instructor is not important enough for a logo to use on business cards. Once again the MOUS program gets kicked. |

I have NOT as of this date, officially received an email or letter from NIVO or MICROSOFT advising me that the MOUS AI program will cease to exist as of June 30th. I found out about this because my membership kit which was sent out of me - stating that I had become an MOUS Authorized Instructor (along with the certificate), included various web sites for instructors. If I had not bothered to visit these sites, I would have never known about these changes. Shame on NIVO and MICROSOFT for not advising existing MOUS AI's prior to making this general public knowledge. Talk about being professional! |

I do not think the standard was raised with this new MOUS AI program. Specifically the requirement for teaching experience, which was orginally 3 yrs, is now 2 years. I am questioning whether the MOUS program is worth the time and money. I don't see an industry appreciation for those like myself, who can prove qualification with the MOUS certification program. |

For those instructors that are really serious about their technology education careers I would suggest going with The Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Their Certified Technical Trainer requires the Train-the-Trainer course as well but they are not half as stickler and stingy as Microsoft. I do still plan to get either MOUS Master Instructor or MCT certified however, I can get experience and technical nohow through a vendor neutral company. Besides if you go with Microsoft now and get through all their requirements you know it won't be long for they switch something else up. And quite frankly it's just not worth it right now. |

frankly i agree with the above comment it is not worth trying to get the MOUS MI since Microsoft/Nivo will do exactly the same again the 'tecky's' and marketeers who run the company have a very low opinion of users of their products and consequently anyone who gaains qualifications from the users perspective (AI's, MI's etc) is also consideeed lowlife |

My experience is that technical qualified personell are unable to pass on their knowledge in a manner that is understandable to normal people. They may know how an application works but they don't have a clue how to relate it to the users needs. Often they give the impression they know it all because they have MCSE etc when in fact they have only ever "self taught" the applications (ie word excel etc)by playing with it like any other non qualified user that we bring up to MOUS level. They have never actually used it properly. They usually desperately need training on how use these applications efficiently. |

Talk about adding insult to injury. Today (June 13th) I received an updated AI certificate showing that I am now an AI for all 5 Office 2000 app's. No, I won't be buying a new frame. |

I was just bestowed the certification of MOUS AI by Microsoft in April. I was so thrilled and proud to tell all my friends and family (not to mention my employer) of what I considered to be quite an honor. Imagine my disappointment to now tell them a mere 2-1/2 months later the title is being taken away. I have done my best to promote the MOUS program, but this has severely impacted my confidence in the entire MOUS certification program. Heck, to add insult to injury, I bought 3 MOUS AI shirts for work. Car rag pile here they come! |

I think the logo is being updated as well. This appears to be the same problem when the logo first came out. I don't know why everyone is complaining. I never hear this much whining when CPAs and MDs have to update their skills. They just do it because that's what they want to be. If you're going to complain then you don't have the right attitude to be a trainer and should go into something else that doesn't require updating your skills or credentials. |
