Yeah, maybe Comptia can fix the crappy pictures of motherboards, PCI slots, etc. That's the only really hard thing about the A-plus hardware test, period. |

It is good to see that CompTIA is taking the time to "freshen" the objectives for the exam. It is important for the exams to reflect the current requirements for service technicians. We will include these changes into our subject matter and review courses at San Antonio College. |

:-) Ha! ha! This is funny! I'm an Aplus instructor and today my students were discussing about those ridiculous motherboards pictures! It was about time for a change huh! Hope they are looking into these types of changes. |

I can;t believe peolple have such a hard time passing the A+ exams. When you deal with the stuff day in and day, you should know what is what on a motherboard. Anyone that is a professional and deals with this stuff on a regular basis should know the difference between a PCI slot and an ISA slot or an ATX board and an AT board. Granted the pictures should be updated, but come on, we need to know our stuff if we want to be A+ certified or certified in any aspect for that matter. |

how stupid can people be? You whiners must be COLOR BLIND. If anyone has taken the comptia a+ exams, then you know the pictures aren't in COLOR. I had no problems distinguishing each component. Maybe it was because I had built a computer before taking the exam. HINT. Get a grip people what do you want 3d graphic illustrations with virtual panning options? HA HA HA. |

Assembling a PC on your own is the best answer to this issue. I had a hard time with those confusing pictures in practice exams; but after building PCs for friends, it became very easy. |

While reading the article above, I missed the part about replacing the pictures. I thought it said new objectives. Talk about getting on a soap box. |

Regarding the snob with the COLOR BLIND comment, you are not thinking logically. If the pictures aren't in color, then it doesn't matter if the whiners are color blind. HA HA HA. |

What happens when you do really work in the field? I do get to operate a computer to print out jobs. I work for a mailing-house. But I do no support or repairs, and olny work with OS 95' & 98'. |

Hey All -- I didn't get information specifically about the graphics for this particular story, but I did talk to them about them a little while back, and at that time they said there were no specific plans to change them. The reason given is that CompTIA said the questions themselves are psychometrically sound, which in layman's terms basically means that questions based on those graphics don't get missed more often that the other questions. They may still be changed at some point, but CompTIA does deny that the graphics are poor enough to affect the test results, and as such had no specific plans to change them when I last asked them about it in December. -- Becky Nagel, Editor, CertCities.com |

the pics are bad but the test is still easy |

Clearer pictures would be nice, but the test is a cinch. |

the pictures leave alot to be desired, however you either know your stuff or you don't. come on, A+ tests aren't that difficult, and there is no reason a person shouldn't pass one on the 1st try. |

Not that I have a crystal ball or anything, but it seems to me that the minor changes to the comptia A+ exams will probably be along the lines of questions about the WinXP OS and hardware requirements etc. Remember when Microsoft decided to pull support for Win 3.x? and Win NT? You may still see information about them in the study guides, and the exams still have Q's about NT. Although there are still plenty of places that still use these OS's, you're on your own if you need help. And as far as those awful pix of motherboards are concerned, yeah, they are pretty bad, but if you are serious about an IT career, there's nothing like getting your hands on the hardware and doing it yourself. I've read and heard enough about the uselessness of "Paper certs" to know that unless you actually build and configure a computer, and use the software, all the certs in the world are never going to make up for that lack of basic skills. This is just my 2 cents worth... Good luck to all of you on these tests, they are bound to evolve and change and the tests do need to to keep up with the ever evolving technology both hard and soft. |

If they are going to update the A plus test does that mean they are gonna change the books? I am about to get started studying for A plus. |
