Microsoft Offers Free Exam Retakes Through June

2/15/2006 -- Today Microsoft reintroduced its "Second Shot" promotion that gives candidates a free retake opportunity on a failed Microsoft exam.

The offer applies to any Microsoft IT Professional, Developer or Dynamics exam taken now through June 30, and is available through Pearson Vue and Prometric testing centers worldwide. The retake must be taken by July 31.

To participate, candidates must first register with Microsoft and obtain a promotion code. This promotion code must be used when signing up for the original exam.

The exam and the retake must be taken through same test delivery provider. There is no limit to the number of exams candidates can register for.

Retakes normally cost the same as the original exam: $125 (U.S.)

To sign up for this promotion, go here. -Becky Nagel

2/15/06: Jason from Minnesota says: Thank God. I have to take 70-292 & 70-296. Heard both of them are failure city.
2/15/06: TC from Louisiana says: I'm glad to see this coming back. I have 2 exams to take and I will get both of them in by June 30th. Thanks Microsoft.
2/15/06: Isaac from Bronx, NY says: I wish they would have done that much sooner. I am scheduled to take the MCDST exam February 17th, but paid for the exam last week.
2/15/06: Anonymous says: I'm glad, i ignored it last time since summer is too busy for tests! Anyone care about the MCSE anymore? There are too many new certs. I'm not so sure about the advisory board thing - I'm curious how consistent it'll be worldwide and nationwide. Can we use the amazon discounts with this too? Now I'm getting greedy i guess.
2/15/06: wc says: As said last year, this seem like a negative incentive. To be rewarded for failure is such a non-Microsoft idea. I wish it was like this instead, pass one and get the next one free... but I will take advantage of the offer anyway!! wc
2/16/06: Anonymous says: Bad gimmick. Microsoft should simply slash the cost of Exams by half. New exams come out each day, thanks to Microsoft efficiency in producing several NEW products. Reducing the cost y half would just make the exams more affordable and popular. Small-time promotions cannot result in long-term popularity of the certification. It only forces guys to take the exam when they are not ready so they can redo it again!!
2/16/06: Anonymous says: does any one know where i can get the CD or software for just the MCSA or E test questions only
2/16/06: Spurs says: Isaac, just do like I did. Cancel your test appointment for the 17th and schedule a new appointment while providing your promotional code. With VUE, u only need 24hr for cancelations.
2/16/06: Isaac from Bronx says: Thanks for the information Spurs. I did just that.
2/17/06: christopher from ALBANY, NY says: day late and a dollar short, just took my 70-282 failed with a 679 and them took this exam the same day and passed with a high 800, damn microsoft....atleast my company picked up both taps.
