2/11/2004 -- News Today, a South India-based newspaper, is reporting that Oracle is offering half-price off all of its exam fees in India through March 31.

Minimal details about the discount are available, except that it is available at Prometric testing centers throughout the country.

According to the News Today story, published Feb. 2, candidates who want to take advantage of this discount should contact Oracle University, India at 1600-44-88-77 for more information. -Becky Nagel

2/11/04: Arthur says: I have no objection to Oracle doing that, but I live in the UK, and at a time when thousands of jobs are being moved to India because of the cheaper costs I find this quite annoying. Why just in India, why not worldwide !!
2/12/04: Steve from Australia says: I just got back from India, and not only are they giving discounts, the standard testing price was a fraction of testing costs in Australia. I bought a stack of IT books in delhi (Cisco, MCSE, Oracle etc selling at 10% - 20% of the cost of buying in Australia. All books were marked "Authorisaed Edition for Sale in Indian Subcontinent Only". Store website was bpbonline.com, to get $USD prices, divide by 45. Getting certified in india sure is cheap !!!
2/12/04: Anonymous from USA says: When all of our IT infrastructure is located in overseas locations like India and so on, our national security will suffer. This is an example of national security being sacrificed so big corporations can rake in a little more profit. How short-sighted is that?
2/12/04: jaarin96 from Texas says: Let me see: -Asia gets cheaper certbooks, unavailable in the U.S -They get discounted cert exams unavailable to the U.S -They get tech training a cheaper rate, unavailable in the U.S -We complain about a lack of jobs while the big U.S Firms ship all our I.T infrastructure over there And all us umemployed, semi employed, under employed I.T Professionals our not on a first name basis with our Congressional Representatives? Get real.
2/12/04: jaarin96 from Texas says: You can have my jobs but I cannot order from your website? Can you say selective capitalism and selective free trade? Wanna see what NAFTA did for U.S workers look at a Dell Shipping Carton....all I see is China and Mexico on those. -Companies complain there are no skilled U.S workers (there are, look in all the universities) -But no one offers to train the American workers to be "on par" with Asian I.T workers. We can spend 50 billion on Iraqi bridges and infrastructure, but nothing on training US High tech workers and improving our (I.T) Infrastructure in the USA. Wake up and smell the roses your tax dollars (yes I am a vet) are going to Iraq as fast as our jobs are shipping to India. I for one will have a VERY good laugh when Al Queda infiltrates Indian IT companies and blows up our software. We never saw it coming did we? All we did was outsource all our software driving our economy and our government. Whodda thunk? LOL
2/13/04: Anonymous says: Asia nations don't need such discounts on books or software. They have copied software (Windows Server 2003 for instance) for $5-$10 a piece and they work just fine. They also have copied books, bundled professionally (hardcover) for $5-$10 a piece, nice and readable. What else do they need? And they won't easily fail the exams because they're expensive, why risk it, dumps are everywhere, and most of the time the test providers are cooperative with the takers, after some cash normally, so they can do anything during the test, bring books, friends, cell phones, pager, etc. let alone the dumps...no worries. Well, that's what's actually happening, in case you don't believe it, try make a visit and have look for yourself.
2/17/04: Anonymous says: Honestly, f*ck Oracle.
2/14/04: amro from sudan says: i just want to that if am able to write OCP 8i exams in india and where?
2/17/04: BgHillbilly from Chicago says: POST REMOVED
2/17/04: Anonymous says: It is all an Al-Queda plot. You see first they smuggle cheap, bootleg Cert books into India... Then they get the big cert players to offer discount exams in India... Next thing you know the good old USA is a third world nation (sort of like in Dark Angel, except no nuke explosion). Who is writing this comic book anyway?
