Apple Debuts New Cert Program for Creative Pros

7/16/2003 -- This week Apple announced a new certification program for creative professionals working with its Final Cut Pro, Shake, Logic Platinum and DVD Studio Pro products.

The new Apple Certified Technician for Pro Products certifications are:

  • Final Cut Pro 4, Level I
  • Final Cut Pro 4, Level II
  • Shake 3, Level I
  • Logic 6, Level I
  • DVD Studio Pro 2, Level I

A trainer-level program was also announced.

Each of the certifications above map directly to available Apple training courses. Although the Web site lists the training as a requirement, a self-study option is available using products from PeachPit Press.

The exams are available for $150 each though Apple Training Centers. Exams are free for course attendees.

Apple has not published objectives for any of the certifications, nor has it released details on how long the certifications are valid or any recertification requirements. Apple certifications are typically good for life for the version that the candidate certifies on.

More information on the program as a whole can be found here. Exam-specific information can be found here. -Becky Nagel
