First MCSA/MCSE 2003 Core Exams To Beta in June

5/21/2003 -- Microsoft's certification group has announced simultaneous beta test dates for two new core exams on the MCSA/MCSE for Windows Server 2003 tracks.

Exams 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment and 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure will both be beta tested June 4 through 15. The exams will be numbered 71-290 and 71-290, respectively.

Passing both 70-290 and 70-291 exams satisfies the Core: Network Systems portion of the MCSA on Windows Server 2003 track, and two of the four required for the Core: Network Systems portion of the MCSE on Windows Server 2003.

Microsoft Beta exams are free but typically only offered to qualified subscribers of Microsoft's MCP Newsflash; to find out how to become a beta tester, go here.

5/22/03: Anonymous says: These exams are free for the moment, if you already paid to get your 2000 cert, this is a bonus. And, no if youre doing 2000 you wont be obselete, companies have to utilize the technology before youre asked to certify in it. Right now every article talks about how companies are very slow to move to 2k3 because they are still on NT...or... just moved to 2000. Most of the features of 2003 are available in 2000, so dont sweat it.
5/22/03: Anonymous says: I'm opening a open book VUE testing center in Pakistan. We have airline packages available and now offer MCSE in 1 day. No experience required, just as long as you apply for financing.
5/22/03: Anonymous says: I am opening a shrine to Mo Money in Lithuania. We'll sell Mo Money bobble-head dolls for $7.25 and make a killing!
5/22/03: PakistanLova from midEast says: I read an article that Pakistan already has 400,000 individuals certified as MCSA-MCSE in win2003 already...I wonder how those guys are so fast????? Especially since the exams aren't even released yet....makes you wonder...
5/22/03: A Pot of Gold says: Its true that Pakistan, India, China and other asian countries will make a fortune for Microsoft and Cisco as those countries have done for cigarette companies. Those populations will propel profits enabling the companies to expand on a bed of ready made certification cash pools. If you are a stockbroker then invest now in this IT growth sector. It matters not how they test their candidates in those countries but rather how much money they can pull in because the amounts will be staggering, I'm actually very excited by that as I have been investing heavily in Microsoft and Cisco stocks knowing that you don't have to be a nostrodamus to predict the growing windfall and rise in share price. Just as the Playstation propelled Sony's profits certification has the potential to do the same in those heavily populated counties of asia. Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA, you are on the right track.
5/23/03: Anonymous says: Stay out of the investment business. Stoners usually don't know what they are talking about.
5/23/03: Anonymous says: I don't think they should let school children do certs, only IT professionals with real experience. Learn to read and write at school first and leave the IT work for the grown-ups. Trying to use certs to get a job when you are fresh out of school is really trying to con an employer that you are actually worth something when you are not. Also running a "full" Win2000 network at home is a joke. Try working in a job with over 500 racked servers with routers and switches then think about how pathetic your little home network sounds to an employer. No wonder people are complaining that they can't get jobs, its because they are fooling themselves thinking that having certs is going to get it for them. Keep dreaming.
5/23/03: Anonymous says: My boss thinks I spend too much time at this site instead of doing my work. He is right but I can't stop reading the posts as some of them make me laugh so much that I nearly fall off my chair. My my boss and co-workers are now also reading the articles on this site. We love it.
5/23/03: Anonymous says: "I don't think they should let school children do certs, only IT professionals with real experience." That's a pretty stupid comment if you ask me. What are you going to do audit every single person. Come come now, even if you audit %10 like for the CISSP, think of how many people will slip through. Better yet, try auditing Abudabi from India or Chun Lee from China.
5/23/03: Anonymous says: ...at least some people are still willing to learn by buying a couple of computers, routers, switches to practice at home to get some experience, rather than just read the books and take the exams like other millions of people do. And you selfish bastard said that they're not worth having a cert and advise them to leave IT for the old fart IT guys like you? What a selfish and inconsiderate thought! Afraid of losing your job to youngsters and recent graduates? If they think your opinion is valid, they would have applied the CISSP requirement to other certs as well, valid 3 yr job experience, but they never, so your opinion sucks, period. And yeah, what a moron statement to simply ask people to stay away from taking certs. Do you think only you can enjoy such a program? Do you think other people don't want to get better off? Go to hell man with your lousy selfish advice and let other people learn. Maybe it's time for you to give it up...
