MySQL Offers Discounted 5.0 Betas

4/5/2006 -- Open source database vendor MySQL AB recently released beta exams for its new 5.0 track of certifications.

As previously announced, the new 5.0 titles require candidates to pass two exams, instead of one. The certification has also been split into two new designations: MySQL Certified Developer and MySQL Certified DBA.

The exams released in beta format are:

  • 003-001: MySQL 5.0 Certified Developer-I
  • 004-001: MySQL 5.0 Certified Developer-II
  • 005-001: MySQL 5.0 Certified DBA-I
  • 006-001: MySQL 5.0 Certified DBA-II

The betas will be available for 50 percent off at Vue testing centers worldwide through April 15. When live, the exams will cost $200 (U.S.).

Launch dates for the live versions have yet to be announced.

More information, including the discount codes for the betas, is available on MySQL's Web site here. -Becky Nagel
