3/2/2005 -- Juniper Networks recently announced two new exams for previously unannounced certification tracks: J-series and IDP.

The company currently offers titles for its M-series, T-series and E-series routers, as well as credentials for its NetScreen products.

According to the announcements, both new tracks will apparently launch with the lower-level Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) titles.

The first exam announced, JNCIA-J (JN1-340) is a beta (i.e., early test version) exam. According to Juniper, the exam is designed for "experienced networking professionals with beginner-intermediate knowledge of the Juniper Networks J-series routers." The three-and-a-half hour beta is currently live at the discounted price of $50 (U.S.). It should be available through Prometric testing centers, although Juniper's site does not confirm the beta delivery method. A live date for the exam has not been announced.

The second new exam, JNCIA-IDP (JN0-540), is designed to tests candidates' "basic understanding of Internet and security technology and Juniper Networks intrusion detection products." The exam will go live at Prometric testing centers worldwide on March 15 for $125 (U.S.).

The company did not say what, if any, additional levels of certifications may be planned for the new tracks.
