CompTIA Puts C+ Out to Pasture
CompTIA is retiring the CTP+ exam/certification as of Dec. 31. The CTP+ (an acronym for Convergence Technologies Professional) exam CN0-201 and certification replaced Convergence+ several years ago and served as an entry-level certification for those working with data, voice and multimedia. According to CompTIA in its announcement of the retirement: "CompTIA is in the development or planning stage for new Professional Series certification exams that will cover topics like cloud computing and mobility."
The current iteration continues to be available through VUE testing centers and is good for life. The exam consists of 65 questions that have to be answered in 90 minutes with a passing score of 750 or greater.

CompTIA To Boost Testing Center Security
Speaking of CompTIA, as of Dec. 1, candidates at VUE testing centers (other than those on military bases or high schools) will be required to have their photo taken and signature recorded. The intent is to "decrease the likelihood of test item theft, proxy testing and other forms of exam fraud" by keeping a record of those taking the exams.
